RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — It is a sultry morning across the Commonwealth and it will be a very hot day as highs climb into the upper 90s to near 100 degrees under sunny to partly sunny skies.

There is a chance of afternoon thunderstorms from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Most of us will not see them, but if you do get one, you can expect some locally heavy downpours in a short period of time. It will be very muggy tonight under partly cloudy skies with lows in the middle 70s.

Partly sunny skies will be around for Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the middle 90s. It will be very humid, both days, and there is a chance of late day thunderstorms.

Looking ahead to Friday and the weekend, the forecast depends on the track of the remnants of Tropical Storm Bill as it moves out of Texas and cuts across the Tennessee Valley. Right now, we expect that system to slide north of the region which means we will actually see a few more clouds but the humidity will be very high.

Look for partly sunny skies for Friday with highs in the lower 90s with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms.

Saturday will feature clouds and sunshine and it will be hot and very humid with a better chance of late day thunderstorms.

Sunday, Father’s Day, will be another hot and humid day under partly sunny skies with a chance of late day thunderstorms.
