HANOVER, Va. (WRIC) — The driver of the tractor trailer that overturned on Mountain Road in Hanover Thursday morning is facing charges.
According to the Hanover County Sheriff’s Department, 30-year-old Joseph Hansen III of Mineral, Va. was traveling east on Mountain Road in a 2006 Volvo truck that was hauling a 2014 MAC trailer loaded with trash when it traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned.
The accident temporarily shut down all lanes on Mountain Road between Scotchtown Road and Horse Creek Road, which forced police to set up a detour. One lane on Mountain Road has since reopened with flaggers from VDOT directing traffic while the trash is removed. Motorists should continue to expect delays.
Hansen III has been charged with reckless driving and operating an unsafe commercial motor vehicle.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no one was injured.
The Hanover County Sheriff’s Departments asks drivers to reduce your speed if you’re traveling in the area.
