#8SportsBlitz Pre-Season: Dinwiddie

DINWIDDIE, Va. (WRIC) — For most teams, a playoff run is a successful season. Coming off of a perfect 2013, however, the Dinwiddie generals want much more in 2015 than they were able to get with their one-and-done playoff run in 2014.

Bill Mills and company return nine starters on offense and a tenth player that started multiple games. On defense, they are a little less settled, but Mills said he’s seen improvement throughout the preseason.

The biggest change, according to senior linebacker Cecil Parham, will come in the team’s attitude.

“We had a lot of distractions last year. Those distractions hurt us on the field a lot,” Parham said. “This year, we don’t have those distractions.”

Mills cautions that the Generals are still young, with many of his starting positions filled by sophomores and juniors. But the new starters are generally guys who got some playing time in 2014, so the outlook is positive.

Dinwiddie begins the season hosting James Monroe and then faces a major test September 4th when Hanover comes to town.
