CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield Police are investigating a fatal accident involved a pedestrian.
Police say a female pedestrian was struck in a parking lot in the 4100 block of Meadowdale Boulevard around 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, August 13. The woman died as a result of her injuries two days later.
According to authorities, a 1996 GMC Sonoma was backing out of a parking space when it struck 88-year-old Madelyne Y. Hughes, who was walking in the parking lot.
The driver of the truck, 44-year-old Andre J. Gorruso, remained at the scene and was not injured. Gorruso, of the 3500 block of Bluffside Drive in Chesterfield, was issued a summons for reckless driving.
Hughes, of the 2200 block of Edwards Avenue in Richmond, was transported to Chippenham Hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries on Aug. 15.
Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
