A prosecutor is set to release more details about an arrest that left a University of Virginia student bloodied and prompted a public uproar.

Just last week we learned Charlottesville Commonwealth’s Attorney Dave Chapman decided to drop the charges against Martese Johnson. Chapman says he made that move after seeing the results of an investigation into the student’s arrest.

Today at 1 p.m., Chapman is scheduled to discuss evidence in Johnson’s case. He says he will explain why he dropped two misdemeanor charges against Johnson and chose not to prosecute the Alcoholic Beverage Control agents who arrested him.

Photos and video of Johnson pinned to the ground and bleeding circulated widely on social media in March. Johnson could be heard on the video recordings calling the officers racist.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe ordered a state police investigation. He also ordered retraining of ABC law enforcement agencies and appointed a panel to review the agency’s practices.

The event is expected to be live streamed by city officials. Click here to watch live.
