RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — We’ve got clouds building in this evening and we’ll be partly cloudy overnight. The added clouds will keep us a few degrees milder than recent nights where we dropped into the low 60s. Tonight we’ll be in the mid 60s.
Tomorrow we’ll be partly cloudy and dry, with added warmth. We’ll top out near 90 in the afternoon with southwesterly winds at 5-10mph. Starting Monday you’ll notice an uptick in the mugginess, and pair that with the low 90s still sticking around, it’s going to feel quite a bit different from the slightly cooler and less humid air we’ve been enjoying as of late.
Monday through Wednesday look dry with a mix of sun and clouds, with highs in the lower 90s. Thursday and Friday could bring a few showers and thunderstorms as the remnants of Erika finally make their way to central Virginia. It’s not looking that wet by any means, and as we get closer, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see little to nothing. Temperatures drop back to the mid 80s with lower humidity as we head into Labor Day Weekend.
Erika is no more!…for now. Right now it’s just a wave of low pressure which means that it’s nothing more than a typical cluster of showers and thunderstorms. However, there is a small chance that upon entering the warm waters of the eastern Gulf that she could briefly turn back into a weak tropical storm. If this happens, winds will not be the biggest issue (sustained at 40-45mph at best), but the flooding potential is still there. Again, by the time the remnants of Erika reach us, at this point I think we’ll be lucky if we squeeze out more than a few showers late next week.
