Dinwiddie County (WRIC) – A Florida woman died Saturday evening after the RV she was traveling in ran off the road and struck several trees. The crash occurred at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Interstate 85 northbound at the 45 mile marker in Dinwiddie County.
The troopers investigation revealed that a 2005 Beaver Venture RV was traveling north on Interstate 85 in the right lane when the right front tire blew out causing the RV to run off the road taking out about 195 feet of guardrail then striking several trees ejecting the passenger.
The driver of the RV John C. Alberts, 56 of Riverview Florida was transported with non-life threatening injuries he was wearing a seatbelt; the passenger Jessica C. Romero, 23 of Oviedo, Florida was transported with serious injuries both to Southside Regional Hospital in Petersburg. Romero later died at the hospital from injuries sustained in the crash.
There are no charges in the crash which remains under investigation.
