RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Our nice weather over the weekend and through today is about to become only a memory as we move into a period of unsettled weather through the weekend.
Tonight will be partly cloudy and still mild with overnight lows remaining around 70. Wednesday will feature partly sunny skies with isolated showers to our west. It will be another hot day with highs in the upper 80s and the lower 90s. Wednesday night clouds will move in with scattered showers and lows in the lower 70s.
Thursday will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms over us. The increase in the cloud cover will mean highs dipping back into the middle 80s. That front will move to the south of us on Friday, but not far enough to clear out of the area. Right now, this might turn out to be a drier day for the high school football game and Friday’s NASCAR race. Cross your fingers. Highs will be in the lower 80s.
For the weekend, there are lots of problems setting up for us. That front will be set up to the south of us and looking at the long range models, I see a storm moving from the Gulf Coast region on Saturday to near New Jersey on Sunday.
The question is does it go east of us (steady rain) or west of us (Showers and thunderstorms)? I cannot answer that at the moment. So right now let’s go with clouds and a good chance of showers and highs in the lower 80s.
That means bring the rain slickers with you when you go the huge UVA-Notre Dame game on Saturday (which is on 8News by the way at 3:30pm), and expect possible problems for Saturday’s NASCAR Race.
Showers could linger Sunday morning, and then things should improve in the afternoon. The weather should get better early next week.
