PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — Police in Petersburg are investigating two homicides.
Authorities say that officers were called to the American Deli at 847 W. Washington Street shortly before 4:30 p.m. Thursday after receiving a report that a person had been shot. Police located the victim, 22-year-old Frank White of Petersburg, on the sidewalk of S. Dunlop Street beside the convenience store suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
White was transported to Southside Regional Medical Center with life threatening injuries and underwent surgery, but died around 10:30 p.m.
Around 3:15 a.m. on Friday, police responded to Southside Regional Medical Center for a person shot. The victim, 24-year-old Neil Lewis of Petersburg, arrived with a single gunshot wound. Police say he was shot by someone in a personal vehicle from an unknown location on Custer Street in Petersburg.
Lewis died about five minutes after police arrived.
Both homicides are being actively investigated and no arrests have been made.
