ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) – Police say three people who were heavily intoxicated in a vehicle near the Pentagon have been arrested.
Pentagon Police noticed the vehicle about 7:20 a.m. Sunday near a Pentagon parking lot. Police say the vehicle had a wire protruding from the driver’s door, and three people in the car were not responsive to officers.
Authorities called in a bomb squad and a hazardous materials unit as a precaution. At one point, the people inside the car tried to drive away and flee the scene. They were stopped and taken into police custody.
Police say the driver was given a breathalyzer test and was found to be heavily intoxicated. No hazardous materials were found in the vehicle.
The incident closed the Pentagon Metro station for a time. It has since reopened.
