NORFOLK, Va. (WRIC/WAVY) — The results are in.

You voted and now the Virginia Zoo has announced that their baby giraffe has been named Joshua.

The Zoo staff selected its favorite names from submissions and then the public voted! Sebastian came in second, according to 8News sister station WAVY-TV, with Jabari following close behind.

“We appreciate the almost 4,000 people that participated in naming the baby. This naming contest gives our community the opportunity to be a part of the Zoo family,” Executive Director Greg Bockheim told WAVY.

Joshua was born on July 23 to mom Imara. The newborn giraffe weighed 152 pounds and was more than 6 feet tall. Male giraffes can reach heights up to 18 feet.

You can visit mother Imara, father Billy, baby Joshua and Noelly at the Virginia Zoo’s Africa-Okavango Delta exhibit.
