Another chilly night for the Richmond region

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The stagnant weather pattern continues. A big ‘ol bubble of sinking air — high pressure — is sitting over the eastern half of the U.S. keeping things dry from Montana to Texas over to the east coast.

That bubble will essentially act as a big stopper in the air flow and not allow any low pressure systems (clouds and rain) to come our way for quite some time.

Tonight, we’ll see clear skies and temperatures dropping quickly after sunset. We’ll be in the upper 60s by 8p.m., down to near 60 at midnight, and right around sunrise tomorrow morning we’ll see our low of 51 degrees.

If you live in a more rural location, expect widespread upper 40s. After tomorrow morning’s chilly start, we’ll get a few degrees warmer in the afternoon than we have the past two days. Tomorrow we’ll see a high of 82 with sunny skies.

Wednesday through Friday will really be much the same with high pressure still sitting on top of us. Expect sunny skies and mid 80s through Friday.

A weakening cold front will pass over this weekend and spread a few clouds into the area, but it’s looking like there’s a good chance that the front will pass dry. There’s a small chance for a few showers on Sunday, but I’ve kept the shower out of the 8-Day forecast for now.

Saturday we’ll see sunny skies turn mostly sunny in the afternoon with a high of 87. Sunday brings mostly sunny skies turning partly cloudy. Starting Monday next week we’ll be in a cooler pattern with temperatures topping out in the 70s.
