RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The countdown is on for the Amazing Raise, a 36-hour online giving challenge.
The Community Foundation has organized and is hosting the fifth annual Amazing Raise to encourage people to support their favorite nonprofits across Central Virginia. The event has generated more than $5 million to support Central Virginia nonprofits since 2011.
More than 600 nonprofits are participating in this year’s Raise.
The challenge kicks off at 6 a.m. Wednesday! The goal is to raise $2 million by 6 p.m. Thursday.
Giving is incentivized through a range of grant prizes given by The Community Foundation, individuals and business sponsors.
More than $180,000 in incentive prizes will be available to nonprofits, some of which include:
- Grand Prizes: The top three small organizations with revenues under $1 million and the top three large organizations with revenues above $1 million with the most unique donations of $50 or more will receive $15,000, $10,000 and $7,500, respectively.
- Bonus Prizes: Individual contributions help nonprofits win additional prizes, like the Early Bird 50/50 Challenge, which gives the first 15 organizations with 50 unique gifts of $50 or more a grant prize of $2,500.

It’s easy to contribute, too.
Starting at 6 a.m., you can go online to the AmazingRaise.org, choose your favorite non-profit and give! Donors can easily select nonprofits that support causes they care about most, including those related to children, animals, education, healthcare, housing and more.
