PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — Police are investigating the second shooting in as many days in Petersburg’s Pecan Acres Estates.
“Me and my cousin were outside talking and all we wear is rat-tat-tat-tat and I ran in the house and just laid down, I was scared to death,” a resident said to 8News reporter Claudia Rupcich.
It’s a sentiment shared by many living in that community.
“It’s getting crazy, kids out here, you know?” said the resident, who did not want to be identified.
Little is known about tonight’s shooting. Police say the shooting took place in the 500 block of Cottonwood Drive at around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Police say one person was found shot and transported to the hospital in stable condition. No other victims were found.
“Something has to be done. I just hope it stops, it has to stop,” said the resident.
On Tuesday, police responded to an early-morning shooting in the same neighborhood in the 700 block of Hemlock Circle.
