RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The stolen bicycle will race again!
That’s the message the Richmond Police Department tweeted Saturday afternoon after locating the race bike that was stolen from a hotel in Richmond on Thursday.
On Friday, police released a surveillance image of the suspect who was believed to have entered the Marriott hotel in the 500 block of East Broad Street and stole a racing bicycle that belonged to Evelyn Stevens, a member Netherlands-based Team Boels-Dolmans.
On Saturday, police responded to a tip and located a person of interest in the theft at the corner of 5th and Broad streets. That person led them to the bike, which was undamaged and returned immediately to Team Boels-Dolmans.
Police are not yet releasing where exactly the bike was recovered from.
When asked if the experience tainted her view of Richmond, Stevens tweeted the following to 8News reporter Kerri O’Brien:
Police are currently interviewing the person of interest who led them to the bike and say charges have not been filed yet.
The bike is valued at over $10,000.
