UCI road closures for Sunday 9/20/15

Richmond, Va. (WRIC) – Road closures for the UCI Road World Championships on Sunday, Sept. 20, will begin at 9:30 a.m. and be completed by 10:30 a.m., one hour before the 11:30 a.m. start of the Elite Women’s Team Time Trial at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. This race will be followed by the Elite Men’s Team Time Trial at 1:30 p.m. Both races will finish at the intersection of 5th and Broad streets downtown with races projected to end by 3:35 p.m. Roads are projected to reopen at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Areas significantly impacted by road closures include, Lakeside, downtown, Tobacco Row, Battlefield Park and the Route 5 corridor. The race course surrounds these areas and there are numerous street and ramp closures with designated vehicular crossing points throughout the course.

Residents are reminded that towing is enforced in areas posted with no parking signs. Street closures will also change day-to-day as different races occur. Residents are encouraged to check the Navigate Richmond 2015 website regularly to stay up to date on the traffic impacts for each day.
