RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Sunny skies will return today for the first day of fall with highs in the upper 70s to near 80.
It will be mainly clear to partly cloudy tonight with lows in the upper 50s to near 60.
A weather system off of the Carolina Coast will begin to push westward during Thursday afternoon and evening, so we will start the day off with partly sunny skies but a few more clouds will move in during the late afternoon and evening. It will be pleasant on Thursday with highs near 80, once again.

Clouds will thicken up on Friday and rain will develop with highs in the middle 70s. More rain is likely Friday night, so you might want to have some rain gear with you for the High School football games across central Virginia.
Steady to heavy rain at times will occur on Saturday and it will be cool with highs around 70.
This system will continue to be with us on Sunday making for another cloudy, grey day with more rain off and on and highs in the lower 70s. Sunday night we will have a Super Moon and an eclipse which will begin at 8:07 p.m. and enter total eclipse about an hour later lasting in the shadow for nearly 70 minutes and finally come out of the shadow by 12:27 a.m., but unfortunately the clouds will remain with this system giving us very little chance of seeing this astronomical event.

Monday will be a day featuring clouds and sunshine mixed along with a chance of showers, especially in the morning. Highs on Monday should climb into the middle 70s.
Another weather system will approach on Tuesday, giving us partly sunny skies with a chance of showers later in the day.
After that it looks like we might have a great stretch of weather Wednesday through next weekend. Let’s hope so!
