Second suspect accused in Dinwiddie murder pleads guilty, sentenced to 28 years

DINWIDDIE, Va. (WRIC) — The second of two suspects charged with shooting a man to death in Dinwiddie pleaded guilty to three charges in court on Wednesday.

20-year-old Devin “Levi” Thomas pleaded guilty in Dinwiddie Circuit Court to charges of first degree murder, using a firearm in commission with a felony and concealing a dead body. He was sentenced to 28 years in prison.

22-year-old Joseph Bryan Phillips, Thomas’ partner in the slaying of 33-year-old Petersburg resident Jeremiah Eugene Jones, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, Sept. 22 to first degree murder charges in connection to the same case. Phillips is scheduled to be sentenced on December 2.
