CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Police have arrested a man after three bodies were found inside a home in north Chesterfield Wednesday night.
Police say that at around 9 p.m., officers had to talk a man off of the Lee Bridge in Richmond. When police asked the man why he was contemplating suicide, he told them he had just killed his family.
Chesterfield Police then received a request from Richmond Police to check the welfare of the residents living at a home in the 3200 block of Walmsley Boulevard. Responding officers found three adults dead inside the home.
28-year-old Carl V. Hughes IV has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder in relation to the incident. Hughes, of the 3200 block of Walmsley Boulevard, was known to all three victims.
Police are declining to identify the victims at this time pending notification of next of kin.
Authorities are still investigating.
Hughes is currently being held at Riverside Regional Jail.
