NEW YORK, NY (WAVY) — The hand of Pope Francis touched a Yorktown family in a special way.
Nine-year-old Wes Pak is currently in New York City receiving chemotherapy for stage 4 cancer.
Pope Francis blessed Wes and and ten other children staying at the Ronald McDonald House. Wes’ mother, Krista Pak, tells WAVY.com each child and parent received a rosary.
Wes was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma in 2011. WAVY.com interviewed Wes and Krista as he was getting ready for first grade. He relapsed late last year.
Krista told WAVY.com Friday night that she was overcome with emotion during the Pope’s blessing.
“Wes needs a miracle and I just prayed so hard that this blessing will be that answer,” Krista said.
