MIAMI (AP) – Tropical Storm Joaquin has formed in the Atlantic, becoming the 10th named storm of the season.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said that Joaquin was centered 400 miles (645 kms) northeast of the central Bahamas. It had maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (65 kph) and was moving southwest at 5 mph (7 kph).
There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. Additional strengthening is expected during the next couple of days.
