DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Dinwiddie mother-to-be came up with a special way to let her husband know she’s pregnant.
Dana Griffin-Graves planted the baby’s ultrasound photos right next to a package of buns in the oven.
Then she secretly recorded her husband’s reaction.
The video is now on the verge of going viral.
It shows Arkell Graves peek into the oven then spin around and exclaim, “You’re pregnant! You’re pregnant!.”
Then you hear his wife say the baby is “due February 16th. And it’s a boy.”
Graves breaks down sobbing. He later explains they were tears of joy.
“His reaction was just priceless,” explains Dana, “I wasn’t expecting that at all. I knew that he would probably be emotional but I definitely was not expecting the reaction I received.”
“I’ve never been that excited before in my life and I mean not mainly for myself, for her,” adds Arkell.
The Dinwiddie couple struggled for nearly 17 years to have a child. Dana suffered four miscarriages and a still birth.
“It was definitely a struggle. A roller coaster with emotions going back and forth. I got to the point where I was you know what, I want to stop trying,” says Dana.
So she was shocked to find out last week that she’s nearly five months pregnant.
Dana recorded her husband’s reaction to share with family, but that video has garnered thousands of likes on social media.
Arkell says a total stranger approached him this week at the gas station.
“A lady just came up to me and said you’re the big guy who was on there crying,” Arkell said. “Everything is going to be ok. I’m praying for you. You know in these times we need prayer. So I will take all the prayers I don’t care how they come.”
“It shows that God is able to do any and all things and so I’m grateful and I said if it can help someone else and give them hope that it can happen, then you know that’s what it’s about,” adds Dana.
