(WRIC) — A spokeswoman for Lamar Odom’s aunt says the former NBA star woke up and spoke three days after being found unconscious at a Nevada brothel.
Earlier Friday ABC News reported that Odom opened his eyes and made a brief utterance.
It is unclear what Odom said or how long is his eyes were open.
Alvina Alston, publicist for JaNean Mercer, Odom’s maternal aunt and godmother, said that Odom spoke a greeting and gave a thumps up Friday morning, his first communication since being hospitalized.
Alston said Mercer is the sister of Odom’s late mother who helped raise him in New York, where she still lives. Mercer and other family members, including estranged wife Khloe Kardashian, are in Las Vegas at the hospital.
Odom was put on life support on Wednesday after being found face down at Nevada’s Love Ranch Tuesday afternoon. Reports indicate that Odom spent four days at the brothel and had been using cocaine and herbal Viagra.
Odom has received an outpouring of support from both current and former NBA players and celebrities since being hospitalized on Tuesday.
Mercer and other family members, including estranged wife Khloe Kardashian, are in Las Vegas at the hospital.
Other members of the Kardashian family, including Kris Jenner and Rob Kardashian, have taken to social media to offer their well-wishes for Odom.
