GOOCHLAND, Va. (WRIC) — The Goochland Sheriff’s Office says a man is on the run after robbing a bank on Friday morning.
It happened at Essex Bank in Centerville at around 10 a.m.
That’s when investigators say the suspect walked into the bank with a note that said he had a gun.
Bank cameras captured unbelievably clear images of the man, who witnesses say walked up to a teller with that note and demanded cash.

According to the Goochland Sheriff’s Office, at no point did anyone see a gun.
“Police cars were at all the entrances,” explains customer Joy Wise, “and I pulled up and one of the officers came over and I said I guess we can’t come in and he said well not right now, they had just announced that there was a robbery.”
Witnesses think the tall, thin suspect is 20 to 30 years old. He was wearing jeans, a khaki shirt and a khaki Philadelphia Phillies baseball cap.
Investigators believe he took off from the bank in an older model silver or champagne colored sedan, possibly an Infiniti G35.
Customers who showed up to make deposits this afternoon were stunned to learn what happened.
Ruth Briit says her family has banked at this branch for decades.
“It was terrible. Such a awful thing as that. I just don’t understand people now that would do something like that,” Britt said.
“It’s scary because I live here, kids go to school here and we have businesses here and you know, it’s a quiet family place,” Wise added.
Detectives hope someone will recognize the man in the photos and turn himin. If you have any information, call Crimestoppers at 780-1000.
