RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A cold front moved through the region yesterday and now cooler, drier air is flooding into the region, this will add an autumn chill into our forecast for the next few days. High pressure positioning itself in our area will also keep skies clear and further push those temperatures to some of the lowest readings we’ve seen yet this season.
As for today, look for high temperatures in the lower 60s with lots of sunshine. Tonight, clear skies and relatively light winds will allow temperatures to drop quickly after sunset and bottom out in the middle 30s region wide, outlying, normally colder spots will likely see some freezing temperatures northwest of the city, frost is certainly possible and tender vegetation should be protected.
Sunday & Monday will feature chilly afternoon highs in the mid-50s along with more in the way of sunshine; both nights will also bring temperatures in the 30s again. Good news if you’re not a fan of this cooler weather arriving early, it’s gone just as fast as it rolls in, highs by midweek will recover back into the mid-70s.
Have a great weekend and stay warm!
