CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA (WRIC) – Police are investigating a shooting that occurred at the Sunoco gas station located at 7559 Midlothian Turnpike.
At about 9:40 A.M. on Saturday, an off-duty Richmond Police Officer was having his vehicle washed at the gas station. A male suspect entered the vehicle and drove it through the wash. The off-duty officer approached the suspect and told him to exit the vehicle which led to a confrontation. During the confrontation, the suspect was shot and he was transported to Chippenham Hospital where he later died. The suspect’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
