Intense heat expected through Wednesday; record-breaking temps possible Tuesday

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Sunny skies will be with us today and the heat will continue.

We look to top out in the upper 90s today, which is just shy of the record 101 degrees. It will be partly cloudy and muggy tonight with lows in the middle 70s.

Tuesday could be a record setting day, as the record is 101 degrees set in 1988 and we are looking for a forecast high of 102 degrees. There is a chance of late day thunderstorms on Tuesday.

Wednesday will still be hot with highs in the middle 90s under partly sunny skies along with a chance of late day thunderstorms.

Thursday and Friday will continue the theme of partly sunny skies along with hot and humid conditions. There is a chance of some late day thunderstorms with highs in the in the lower to middle 90s.

There is a chance that we could see slightly cooler temperatures over the weekend with highs near 90 or even the upper 80s by Sunday, under partly sunny skies with a chance of a late day thunderstorm or two.
