HAMPTON, Va. (WRIC/ WAVY) — A woman accused of concealing her son’s remains in a car told the court Monday that she did not have any children.
Police say that 44-year-old Tonya Slaton was driving around with her son’s remains in her car. They were discovered earlier this month when she was pulled over in Hampton Roads.
On Friday, police revealed the identity of the remains as Quincy Jamar Davis, Slaton’s biological son. Davis went to Virginia Beach Middle School in 2003 and 2004.
The trooper reported smelling “a strong odor of rotting flesh permeating from the bag. The bag contained what appeared to be a clothed body wrapped with duct tape.”
In court Monday, Slaton asked for a court appointed attorney.
Police say additional charges against Slaton are pending, as the investigation into Davis’ death continues.

Slaton’s next court date is set for Sept. 1.
