HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — Hopewell Police arrested an armed robbery suspect on Wednesday.
Police say that officers responded to the Fairfield Inn located at 3952 Courthouse Road on October 28 around 8:41 p.m. for a report of an armed robbery. When officers arrived, they found the victim, who reported that he had been robbed of his personal property at gunpoint. An investigation revealed that the suspect approached the victim while in the hotel parking lot, displayed a small caliber handgun and demanded he hand over his property. The suspect fled the area on foot and got away with some of the victim’s personal property, police say.
Police arrested a 15-year-old on October 28. The teen was served a juvenile petition for armed robbery and was transported to the Crater Detention Center.
“The communication between the officers and citizens led to a quick apprehension of the suspect,” said Capt. Greg Taylor.
