CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WRIC) — Police and Chesterfield County Fire Marshals have arrested a man in relation to an explosion and fire that happened at a Chesterfield hotel on Tuesday.
Fire crews responded to a suspicious fire at the InTown Suites, 11551 Green Spring Road, around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The call came in for a reported explosion on the third floor of the hotel.
The resident of the room where the explosion and fire occurred was not on scene when police and firefighters arrived.
Detectives and the Chesterfield County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the incident throughout the day.
Investigators obtained a warrant for felony arson for 53-year-old James G. Burns, who lived in the hotel room where the explosion and fire broke out. The suspect was located in the City of Richmond on Tuesday afternoon and arrested without incident.
Burns is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond.
