RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A powerful weather system in the Great Lakes will have an impact on our weather.

Today, we will be out ahead of that system, so that means that we will have south to southwest winds which will help to drive our temperatures up into the upper 60s to near 70, under partly sunny skies. As a weak trailing cold front moves through this afternoon we could see a passing shower or two.

Behind that system, our skies will become mainly clear but the winds will shift around to the west and northwest making for a slightly cooler and breezy day on Friday. In fact, Friday will feature sunny skies with highs in the lower to middle 60s. A reinforcing shot of cooler air will come in later Friday night and that will be felt this weekend.

Saturday will be sunny and pleasantly cool with highs in the middle 50s and Sunday will be just a little be better with highs in the upper 50s.

Looking ahead to next week, Monday through Wednesday will be seasonable with highs in the middle to upper 60s under sunny to partly sunny skies.

Our next weather system could come in on Thursday bringing us a chance of showers into Friday.
