RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Three suspects are facing charges after an attempted robbery in the Forest Hill area of Richmond.
Police say the victim stated that he was flagged down at Forest View and Clarence by three suspects: 19-year-old Dequan Johnson, 26-year-old Ronnie Taylor and 24-year-old Christian Thompson.
According to authorities, Johnson pointed a black handgun in face of the victim and then demanded money, the victim’s cell phone and his car. The victim said that he “floored it” and headed down Clarence Street. While driving and calling 911, the victim saw an officer.
The officer started heading in the last know direction of travel and spotted the three suspects south on Janhke Road. Three officers stop the three suspects and recover the weapon. The victim positively identified all three suspects, who were then transported to the Third Precinct, where they were interviewed by a detective.
All three suspects were charged with attempted robbery and use of a firearm to commit a felony. Johnson was also charged with possession of a concealed weapon.
