RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Police are investigating after three people were injured — one fatally — during a shooting in Richmond’s southside Monday night.

The shooting occurred in the Blue Ridge Estates apartment complex located in the 300 block of Red Ash Drive.

When officers arrived, they found a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Police say a 7-year-old female was also shot. Both victims were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

As officers continued canvassing the area, they found a deceased person laying outside one of the units.

Richmond Police Chief Alfred Durham said the unidentified suspect remains at large. Durham added that officers will continue to canvass the scene and question residents throughout the night in hopes of gaining more information about the shooting. In a news release shortly afterward, police said they had “strong leads” in the case.
