CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WRIC) — The University of Virginia’s baseball team will be returning to Virginia as national champions Thursday evening.
Last night, the Cavaliers beat defending champion Vanderbilt 4-2 in Game Three of the College World Series final.
Pavin Smith homered and drove in three runs to lead UVA to the first baseball national championship in school history.
Tonight, there will be a celebration to welcome the team back. It is being held at the John Paul Jones Arena at 6 p.m., and 8News will be there and have a live report at 5:30 and 6 p.m.
