DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A major tractor trailer crash has closed all lanes of Interstate 85 north.
Police tell 8News that three people suffered minor injuries after a tractor trailer ran into the back of a firetruck and police cruiser. Authorities say they were working the scene of another crash when it happened.
“We have an extensive clean-up. A deputy’s car also got damaged.”
The driver of the tractor trailer was med-flighted to VCU Medical Center.
The right lane has reopened. The left lane remains closed for cleanup near mile marker 43 just north of the Route 40 McKenney exit.
Traffic is using Exit 42 to McKenney Highway (Rt. 40) to bypass the crash. Drivers can take McKenney Hwy. (Rt. 40) west to Boydton Plank Rd. (Rt. 1) north back I-85 north at mile marker 48 or mile marker 53.
Authorities are urging drivers to take alternate routes. Expect major delays.
