TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – With winter weather on its way, auto experts say it’s time to think about bringing your vehicle in for a check-up.
“Our winters can get where there’s zero degrees for a week or two at a time,” said Steve Finzel, owner of Finzel’s Mastertech. “Things are going to break if they’re not serviced.”
Finzel recommends bringing your car to a professional to examine all vehicle systems and fluids, like your antifreeze levels.
“If your fluid levels are low, you stand a chance of ruining the engine, power steering systems, cooling systems and transmissions,” said Finzel.
How do your tires look? Keep an eye out for pressure levels as well as treading.
Also, pay attention to your battery. Bringing it in early for testing can help make sure your car gets you where you need to go during the winter months.
Finzel says when it comes to your vehicle, do not ignore the signs if it’s trying to tell you something is wrong.
“Your car will typically talk to you,” said Finzel, “It will make whining noises, clunking noises, it will stop operating correctly, warning lights hopefully will come on.”
