HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The family of James ‘Pooh’ Green is told 8News the body pulled from an eastern Henrico County lake on Thursday is him. Green had been missing since Nov. 13. Family members rushed in from Florida and North Carolina to hand out fliers across central Virginia.

Green was 35-years-old with a birthday coming up in early December. He was married with a 13-year-old daughter.

“He was insanely in love with his daughter,” his aunt, Marilyn White told 8News.

He loved music and wrote rap songs, accordingly to relatives. Green’s nickname, ‘Pooh’ came from his aunt when he was a baby. The family said they are relieved to have closure, but said the investigation is still open as there are many questions remaining. They would not reveal what investigators had told them.

“We were thankful that this aspect of his disappearance has been resolved,” said White, “but surely it is nowhere near closed or the end. It’s still a very active open investigation.”

According to police, a family living in a subdivision off Laburnum Avenue near the intersection of Colwyck and Thornhurst spotted the body and reported it shortly after 2:30 p.m.

On Thursday, police say there were no signs of trauma or indications of foul play. Authorities are now awaiting word from the medical examiner’s office as they continue their investigation.

When contacted, Henrico County officials would not officially confirm that the body was Green.

This is a developing case. Stay with 8News on air and online for more details.
