PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — The City of Petersburg is apologizing to residents for recent high water bills.
In the latest development of a story we’ve been following for months, 8News received a copy of the letter City Manager William E. Johnson plans to send to residents on Friday, December 4.
The letter begins:
Dear Valued Resident of the City of Petersburg:
On behalf of the City of Petersburg, the Department of Public Works and Utilities, we want to apologize and take 100% accountability for the errors and inconsistencies with
the water bills. Water bills have been sent out to you with incorrect amounts and these amounts will be adjusted immediately.
In the letter, Johnson states that new bills we not be mailed out until the existing bills are adjusted and corrected.
