WASHINGTON, D.C. (WRIC) — People have showed up on the steps of the Supreme Court after this historic 5-4 decision.
Some are waving the pride flag — others are hugging and taking pics. Every few minutes, a car will drive by honking their horn.
But not everyone here is celebrating.
There’s a young man who’s on a loud speaker, condemning same sex marriages and same sex relationships.
But he’s significantly outnumbered by the people here celebrating this historic decision.
Thirty-seven states and the District of Columbia already allowed legal same sex marriage.
But with this decision, same sex couples in the remaining 13 states can now tie the knot legally.
“We just came to visit DC but very happy to be here actually to see this and we got a chance to explain it to kids,” Priya Abraham of Chicago.
“It means a lot to see it now that they have chosen it I’m like wow I’m like this is so crazy and this is amazing I’m like wow,” Adley Sole of San Francisco.
