PETERSBURG, VA (WRIC) – On Sunday at approximately 12:40 A.M., Petersburg Police Officers responded to the 1700 block of West Court in reference to a Shots Fired call. There they located 21 year old Kwaun A. Quarles suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Southside Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
At approximately 1:20 A.M., Police were called to the 800 block of Rome Street for a Person Shot. They arrived to find 27 year old Mark L. Barlow suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Southside Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
The two shootings appear unrelated however, police are following up on every lead. Both cases are being investigated as homicides.
