ESTILL SPRINGS, Tenn. (WKRN) — Franklin County Sheriff’s Office say a 12-year-old boy shot and killed 11-year-old Sienna Owens in Tennessee on Friday.
Both children were students at North Middle School.
Deputies located the victim, identified as Sienna Owens, in the garage with a gunshot wound to her upper back. A responding deputy attempted to perform CPR. Sienna was transported to Southern Tennessee Medical Center where she died.
An autopsy will be performed to determine if the shooting was accidental or intentional. Authorities are also working to determine if it was neglectful. Details of the the events surrounding the shooting are unknown at this time, and the District Attorney’s Office will determine if charges will be filed.
Visitation for Owens will be held at Moore Cortner Funeral Home on Tuesday, Dec. 15 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Moore Cortner Funeral Home, and burial services will be conducted at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
