GREENSVILLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Virginia State Police trooper was hospitalized after a suspect who was fleeing from police crashed into the trooper’s vehicle in Greensville County Saturday afternoon.
Virginia State Police tell 8News they received a report from the North Carolina Highway Patrol regarding a reckless driver who had crossed the state line.
The suspect vehicle was observed by Virginia State Police at mile marker 11 on I-95 in Greensville County at around 1:36 p.m. The vehicle failed to observe the trooper’s emergency lights and siren and continue traveling at a high rate of speed before striking a state trooper’s car in the rear, forcing it onto the guardrail. The vehilce was stopped at the 13 mile marker and the driver was arrested.
The injured trooper was transported to Southside Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect, who has been identified as 24-year-old Christopher A. Moore of Sunbury, Pa., faces charges of DUI, felony elude and attempted malicious wounding.
