RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A chilly night is on tap for Central Virginia, but there is such a large warm-up headed our way for next week. Thursday’s afternoon temperatures could be almost 50 degrees—warmer temps then what you will wake up to on Sunday morning.
Tonight will be clear, calm and chill with overnight lows falling back into the lower to middle 20s. Sunday will be another day with brilliant blue skies and highs right around 50. Monday will start off a little warmer, with early morning temperatures around 30. Clouds are on the increase Monday in the area with highs back into the mid to upper 50s.
A slow moving weather system to the west of us will flood the East Coast with warm air starting Tuesday all the way through the end of the week. We will have a risk of showers on Tuesday-Thursday with the best chance of rain on Wednesday.
And the temperatures will go up-up-up for those 3 days to 63° on Tuesday, 69° on Wednesday and 74° on Christmas Eve. That 74 would be a new record high for us, and records may fall all over the East Coast.
Christmas Day looks to be partly cloudy and in the middle 70s. A cold front will stall to the south of the area and that should bring a chance of rain back for next Saturday.
