RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — At the site where 12-year-old Amiya Moses was gunned down Saturday night, the community locked hands in a prayer circle to pray for a stop to the violence. Just feet way a laid a small makeshift memorial. In that memorial something stands out; a bloody handkerchief and a blood stained sweat shirt.
“She was in my arms,” said James Gray, who held Moses as he tried to save her life.

Those bloodied clothes were worn by Gray. He was inside when he heard a barrage of gunfire.
“We looked out the window and she was laying on the ground, so I came downstairs and held her,” said Gray.
Moses was covered in blood after two bullets pierced her body.
“She didn’t say nothing, she couldn’t say nothing she had a bullet in her throat, she couldn’t say nothing at all,” said Gray.
As she lay dying, Gray did all he could to stop the bleeding.
“Just tried to cover up both the bullet wounds, I just tried to talk her through it I told her to spit the blood out of her mouth, don’t swallow it, I tried to keep her body still and warm,” he recalled.
Unfortunately, Gray couldn’t save his friend. He calls it the worst day of his life and says its a night he will never forget.
“I feel like I am going to live with it, she was in my arms,” said Gray.
There is another prayer vigil scheduled for Christmas Eve at 6 p.m. to support Moses’ family. That will take place on Old Brook Road.
A GoFundMe page has also been set up to help raise money for funeral costs.
