Santa will certainly have a bit more help guiding his sleigh at night with a rare full moon. Christmas morning will feature a rare celestial phenomenon.
Since 1900, only three full moons have ever fallen on Christmas. This year will be the fourth and first since 1977.
NASA says the next time this will occur will not be until 2034. Rudolph can cover his red nose for the night because the full moon will peak just after 3 a.m.
This is the last full moon of the year and it gets the nickname “Full Cold Moon.”
