RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — We’re getting a bit of a break from the rain, but round two will return Wednesday.
For the rest of the evening and overnight, we’ll see cloudy skies with nothing more than a light passing shower. Temperatures remain exceptionally mild, with a low of 57. Winds are south at 4-8mph. Round 2 of rain arrives much like this morning—in the early morning hours.
We’ll see a few breaks, but overall Wednesday’s rain will be with us for longer than Tuesday’s. We’ll see the wet weather stretch into the early evening commute before moving out in the evening. Wednesday’s high will be 73, with strong southerly winds at 10-20mph.
Thursday looks mainly dry, but mostly cloudy. There’s a slim chance for a stray sprinkle, but not enough to put the rain icon in the 8 day forecast. Be aware that there’s the chance, but most will remain dry. Highs on Thursday (Christmas Eve Day) should have no problem breaking the record. It’s looking like we’ll reach 80 degrees, blowing past the old record of only 71 set back in 1988.
Unfortunately, I have to put a few showers in the Christmas Day forecast. Most models want to push the rain chances north of Richmond, but just to be safe, I’d rather keep the shower chance in for the area, and he hopefully optimistic that we remain dry. I just don’t see enough evidence of a completely dry forecast to omit the rain chance. So, a few light showers are possible, with a high of 74 Christmas Day.
Boxing Day (Canada, eh!), Saturday, we’ll see a few light showers also hanging around, with a high of 68. Sunday features mostly cloudy skies and a high of 74.
It’s winter! When will it finally feel like it?! Well, not next week either. We’ll see more rain chances and highs in the mid to upper 60s on Monday and Tuesday, and a temperature drop on Wednesday that will still keep us above normal.
