RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A black bear was captured overnight in Richmond’s Mosby Court after it was spotted roaming around the neighborhood for several hours early Tuesday morning.
It all started when a passerby initially reported spotting the bear at 11 p.m. on Monday in the 1800 block of Rogers Street. Police responded, but didn’t find anything.
An hour later, another call came in from someone else in the 1800 block of Rogers Street. That’s when officers got their first look at the bear. They began tracking it, but soon lost it.
It wasn’t until around 1:45 a.m. when the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries was able to corner the animal in a wooded area near Coalter and Richmond Streets.
Officials tranquilized the bear with a dart and took it away. There’s been no mention about where they took the animal.
