RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — It was ten years ago today that a horrific and senseless crime devastated the Richmond community: the Harvey family was brutally murdered inside their home, their house then set on fire.
Today, Ricky Gray is on death row after he killed Bryan, Katherine, and their two young daughters 9-year-old Stella and 4-year-old Ruby on New Year’s Day in 2006. The Harveys were preparing to host friends for a holiday chili dinner when Gray and his accomplice, Ray Dandridge, tied them up in their basement, where they were stabbed and beaten to death.
Dandridge is serving a life sentence.
After killing the Harvey family, the two went on to kill Percyell Tucker, his wife Mary and their daughter, Ashley Baskerville, who was an accomplice in the Harvey family murder.
Gray filed an appeal in the harvey case to the federal court but it was denied. He can still appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
