The clouds have finally parted and we are in for a beautiful early January weekend here across central Virginia! High pressure is building in across the region and will promote clear skies and temperatures around 50. As we round out the weekend an arctic cold front will drop out of the north and we will feel its effects heading into the work and school week ahead.
Monday will bring sunshine but temperatures noticeably cooler with highs in the low to mid-40s. Overnight under clear skies temperatures will drop like a rock into the upper teens. The core of the cold air mass will settle overhead on Tuesday as afternoon highs struggle to get out of the mid-30s and overnight lows in the mid-teens!
Temperatures do however moderate slightly through the end of the week as a storm system tracks our way for the Friday timeframe as rain.
