CHESTERFIELD, Va (WRIC) – Charges are pending after Chesterfield Police say that a man was shot by an officer as he was attempting to break-in to a home in Chesterfield County Sunday morning. The incident happened around 7:30am Sunday morning on the 3000 block of Rycliff Ave.
Police say that a female resident called police about a male suspect trying to break-in to her home. When police arrived they found that suspect holding a knife and trying to kick down the door. That is when the officer shot the suspect. Police tell 8News that the suspect was transported to VCU Medical Center with non life threatening injuries. Police also say that the homeowner and suspect did know each other.
